Got an Idea .... Tracking Inventory!

I am getting a runtime error 3024
Could not find the file C:inventory_be.mdb

The file is there, next to the program, but it will not access it.

Tim
Ok just making sure you either saved the backend on your C:\ drive or you moved and re-named your previous version to Inventory_be ... the Inventory.mdb file in the zipped file can be placed anywhere ... preferrably on your desktop. If this still doesn't work, there is a trick to get behind the scenes in ms access click on the db and highlight it do not open, now hold SHIFT and push ENTER while still holding SHIFT.

Now once it opens click TOOLS---> DATABASE UTILITIES----> LINKED TABLE MANAGER.

A window opens and you want to check all the boxes and check 'Always prompt for new location' hit OK and you should get prompt for the location of the backend...locate on the C:\. Select the db and hit OK and viola you should be link fine.

If you guys are having too much trouble please let me know I can put the tables locally again but the draw back is if I make any changes your data will be over written.

Thanks for the work that went into this, Mike. I've been looking for a better way to keep track of everything and this will be fund to experiment with.

I downloaded this database when Mike first posted it up. It's great, but I don't have the need to keep track of beer and wine (I drink it way before it is any kind of "stored away" ). So, I took it upon myself to play around with it to tailor it to my needs. I wanted to store cigars, pipe tobacco, and my pipes.

Mike gave me permission to post this up here and I want to thank him for laying the ground work enabling me to do this. I learned a lot (I knew very little about doing this when I started) and I think I came up with something pretty decent.

This does call to the same Inventory_be file on your c: drive so it won't work unless you switch the old one with this one. The tables for the tobacco and pipes are not in the original file.

Have fun!

Bumped for the other newbs looking for a cigar a inventory program.

hope you don't mind.

Thanks

Paul

Glad I didn't start my excel inventory. This is much better.

Now I just need to learn access again.

Has been about 7 years. Should be fun.

Thanks for putting this together.
