Partagas Piramide EL '01?

Here's a link to CF where there is an ongoing debate as to whether or not ANY of the Partagas Piramides that have an '01 label are legit:

I don't see how there is anyway these cigars could be legit. What do some of our experts have to say (Wilkey, Matt, Devin, Bob, ect...)

My information goes back to one of the original sources cited in that thread. Bottom line is that it is almost a certainty that these are not legitimate. My PartyMids did not have a year band on them.

Although "it's Cuba" is a common refrain, I don't see how there is any chance that 2001 bands could find their way onto 2000 production and be boxed and stamped in 2002.

Is it impossible in the sense of absolutely zero probability? No. But it's close enough for those of us in the general cigar community.

Oh yea ... search can be your friend too. Here are a couple sources that go over what EL was released each year. None of them mention a Party Piramide from 01.

You would think so. However, I remember the day they were originally posted for sale. I told Marc there is no way those could be legit and he even brought that up on the thread. However, no one else commented on it. Even some long-time CF'ers with extensive knowledge on cubans didn't say at first they were 100% fake. Hell, a couple of them even purchased a 5'er.

There are around 5 or 6 references that I can count on for cubans and all are fantastic. The problem is these references don't always have ALL the information on a particular cigar. Wilkey was right with his "it's Cuba" and it never hurts to ask when you have suspicions. There are quite a few "special releases" from HSA that aren't common knowledge as well as certain production time lines which you can't find using these references alone. That is why I asked for some of the guys who have LOTS of experience with cubans to weigh-in.

I topped the thread at CF to see if this guy had made good on taking them back like he said he would. I have a bad feeling he will simply disappear.
