Well it is 4:30 am and I have been up for about 45 minutes. I have already had a cup of coffee and about to have another with this cigar. My back is giving me trouble I can’t stay in bed too long. That’s the reason I am around so much lately. I have only been working part time. Normally I work about 50 hours a week. It is tough getting old. I have been making the boys pick up the slack. They are not happy about it but have been doing a good job of it. When I feel better you won’t hear from me as much. I’m sure that will make some of you happy as I have been accused of posting too much. The envelope.....
Upon viewing this very dark Robusto cigar I sniffed the foot for any aroma. I could smell what I consider to be a standard smell for a mid priced maduro wrapped cigar. Earthy, with just a hint of cedar not as aromatic as I like in my cigars. The body of the cigar was very firmly built, very nice construction. Maybe a box pressed cigar that has been out of the box awhile.
I clipped the head with a notch clipper and the wrapper remained intact. Sometimes that type clipper can rip the wrapper at the end of the clip on a thicker wrapper. This wrapper looks delicate for a maduro. I like that in a maduro wrapper, some can be so thick and toothy. Pre-light draw required very little effort. I toasted the foot and blew on it to make sure the cigar was fully lit.
The pre-draw aroma was a nice I could not discern any specific smell but it was pleasant enough. I got the impression that it would a strong cigar.
Well the first few puffs were not so strong. There is some creaminess and something else but I can’t put my finger on it yet. I think it might be cocoa. There is not the earthiness I usually associate with this type of wrapper. This tastes like a Dominican made cigar.
I am in about an inch and my ash fell off. It was my fault though trying to turn the camera on while holding the cigar. I like this cigar, my mouth stays moist while smoking and I like that about a cigar. Still very creamy at this point still have that cocoa hint and there is still something unique in the flavor. I know I have not smoked this cigar before. It is unique enough in flavor for me to know this cigar when I smoke it again. I like this cigar enough to go out and get a box. It is very tasty indeed.
I would say at the half way point that it is a medium strength cigar as I tend to inhale the cigar very slightly on occasion. The wrapper is smooth more like a natural then a maduro. The ash is seems to be holding and is whitish gray and looks very good. The quality of construction is coming through. I notice that this is not an oily cigar. The cigar has smoked very cool through this point as well.
Coming down the home stretch and the cigar has not lost the creaminess. The flavor has remained up to this point. Moistness in my moth remains as well. Still has a firm foot, very good construction. There is a hint of spice starting to come through and that distinct flavor as well.
The cigar stayed lit throughout the entire smoke. Lost my ash again this time it just fell off on its own. I was trying to get it to hold on as long as I could especially after knocking it off earlier. I don’t think it will hold much past an inch on its own. That for me is no big deal it still manages to remain cool enough.
Overall I liked this cigar, nice flavor and unique. There are only a few cigars I can say that about in my experience. I think I could identify this flavor in a blind smoke test. Construction was excellent throughout as well. The flavors remained throughout as well although that spiciness I got at the midway point seemed to disappear near the end. I would have to say I liked this cigar better then 85% of all other cigars I have smoked. I hope it is not to expensive as I would like to add a few boxes to my humidor. Smoking time was about an hour and a half.
Now for the unvailing, may I have the envelope please…………..It is a La Gloria Wavell Madoro from 2002-2003. I was correct I have never smoked this cigar. It is one of those things I kind of overlooked in the past, No more, look out JR here I come. Time for another cup of coffee.
This was fun I never smoked a cigar as crtically before makes you really take notice. I hope you found this review interesting and insightful. Sorry about the quality of the pictures but the camera is old like me.

After spending time writing this review I noticed that the flavor of the cigar remained. That flavor I could't put my finger on while smoking now I would say is toasty. Very nice.....
