I just noticed that I reached the big 1 year mark here at CP. It has been a fun ride and I have learned a ton. Thanks everyone for contributing to our little community!!
I have been deliberating on a contest to mark my 1 year and almost 1000 posts. I have come up with a couple of questions, but need to refine them a bit..... stay tuned.. more to come.
---------------------------------------------------
So I decided a little celebrating was in order ... I mean, why the hell not? So, I'm sitting w/ my buddy J., smoking one of my favorite cigars, a Davidoff Millenium Blend Piramide. It just such a damn fine smoke!!! Yum! And drinking a Margarita. The only thing that could be better would be if the heat went down a little bit.
Since I have reached a year and am nearing a 1000 posts, I figured I might as well combine them into one contest. This is not your standard contest, no easy questions here.
Rules:
1. The contest will end on August 18th or 1000 posts, which ever comes first.
2. All answers are to be sent to me via PM. If you post here, you are just hurting yourself.
3. I love to learn, so this is a little research project for you. Answers will be given bonus points for written responses (essay format) vs. one liners.
4. I will post the answers of the winner, and of those who have excellent responses.
Cigar Pass Contest: 1000 posts / 1 year.
1) What was the first year ISOMs came out with the LE versions of some cigars, and why? And what have been all the LE versions from then to now in 2006 (including those to be released)? List all brands, vitolas, sizes, per year. Is there anything that can be considered a drawback to these cigars (I can think of 3 or 4)?
2) Who started the Tatuaje line? What is his history w/ cigars prior to starting this line? Who is one of Tatuaje's master rollers? What are the special releases produced by Tatuaje, and for what vendor(s)?
3) What the hell is this Taboada thing people keep talking about? Who is he (name, age, occupation, place of residence)? What is the big deal? Who else does what he does and is very well known for it? (If you provide me contact info for any of the other three I am thinking of, I'll love you for it). What is supposedly the big deal this year? What would be really sad, if something else becomes true in August?
4) Who is the founder of the Padron line? When did he leave Cuba and why? What was the name of his cigars while in Cuba? What are they called today? What was his first occupation in America? Where is Padron cigars headquartered today? Where are their cigars produced? How many Padron cigars have been rated a 90 or better by Cigar Aficianado since 1990?
5) Name three different cigar scoring methods, and they are used by whom. Explain how a cigar is rated in each one: what are the criteria, what is evaluated, is a panel used, etc. Where do you find strengths and weaknesses; which do you prefer and why? How many cigars have been rated a "94" and higher by Cigar Aficionado? How many of those are cuban? Do you have a favorite cigar that is in that list, what is it and why?
Tie breaker question: What are the 5 cigars I will be sending to the winnner? (hint: the 5th is one of my favorites and although not in CAs top 25, I think it should be).
Good Luck!!
