Do you use a punch or a guillotine?

Just curious. I have always used a punch because I have one that can fit on my keychain, and it beats having to carry a cutter around with me. But I would also like to know some opinions on how using one over the other changes the smoke.

I always thought real men bit the tip off, spit, and then dipped it in something....And yes, I am talking about Cigars!

I always use a punch, unless I am smoking a Belicoso or Torpedo (you know, cigars with pointy ends).

Used all the styles. Including knives, biting, and finally pulling the cap off with my finger nails. I use my Xikar now but my Colibri lighter has a Punch on it so if I forget the cutter, I always punch the cigar now.

Depends on which sea story I'm telling. You know the difference between a sea story and fairy tale? A fairy tale starts off with " once upon a time" a sea story on the other hand starts off with " this is no shit". :laugh:

Only use a punch if the ring gauge is too big.

Always guillotine, If the ring gauge is too big for the cutter(60+) I won't be smoking it.

I always cut. I like the draw a little better, and I feel like I get better flavor. Just my opinion.

I used to always use a punch until I lost my punch. Now I always use my cutter. I used to get a more consistent draw with the punch, but I still like the cutter better.

I never liked the punch because tar can build up at the end of the cigar and ruin the flavor when you get down to far. If you are nubbing your cigars then a guillotine cut is in my opinion the only way to go.

Usually use a cutter, but have on occasion used a punch when I left my K-Bar at home....

I'll use my punch most of the time unless the smoke is a torpedo or belicoso.

I like to use the punch, but the one I have is somewhat small. It doesn't work too well on the larger ring gauges so I rarely use it on greater than about a 48 gauge. I need to find a bigger punch, but until I do, I'll stick with my present system.
