some botls that i know were talking about these GREAT cigars, unfortunately, i was in a hurry and could'nt stay around to hear the skinny. anyone here familiar with these? i believe they are isoms, but not sure. thanks for any help :cool: !

They're a custom rolled Havana and they have quite a following. I've never smoked one though.....
 
I just did a trade with a guy for a couple of these. I wont get them til I get back from my vacation but I look forward to trying them and will let you know how they are after a short rest. I have never seen a vendor offer them though.
 
Some say you are lucky to get an actual cigar rolled by Taboadas. They say he does not roll all of em...His rollers under him roll under his supervision.

Don't know this to be a fact...Just what I have heard.

Who needs taboadas when you have Morales, right Sarge!?!? :cool:


Taboadas is just another Master Roller/Blender in Cuba. He worked his way up and has become widely known for his custom rolled cigars. He also has a big following. But, there are many Master Rollers/Blenders in Cuba that are on his level. You can take Morales or La China or V.R. Farm rolled cigars. All are great cigars in their own respect. I've never had any of the following, but I do have 1-2 of each except for La China.
 
Sr. Rudolfo Toboada is one of the greatest rollers in Havana. Very highly regarded not only in his rolling applications, but also his blending. Sr. Toboada rolls for several open events during the year, but also rolls for private clients. I have one Toboada that was rolled for a particular famous drug cartel leader in Columbia, who is now dust in the ground.

I've probably smoked a couple dozen Toboadas over the years, most being salamones. But, one of my top five ever smoked cigars, was a double ligero robusto, rolled by Sr. Rodolfo.

Comparing custom rolled cigars, made by top rollers like Toboada, LaChina, Hamlet, etc., etc. has more to do with the blending, than the actual cigar, as they all roll top notch smokes. You'll see premiums being charged for these custom rolled cigars and while it may seem like a deal, they are much cheaper than the premium if you get them made in Cuba.

Cliff, with all due respect, the V.R. farm rolled cigars are no where near the quality of a LaChina, Hamlet or Toboada. Especialy the more recent ones.

His name is just Taboada (no s)... in the end they are just cigars, but it's analogous to having an extremely talented chef prepare a meal just for you... it's an experience that can transcend the meal itself.

Oh and depending on who you talk to, he spells his name:

Toboada
Taboada
Tobouda
Tobuoda
Taboda
etc.
etc.

The official spelling is actually Taboada.....

Yeah, was wondering about that Matt... Mitch seems to spell his name Tobuoda...

It's all very odd, because it isn't like Spanish is a language like some others (Chinese, Thai, Arabic, etc.) where there can be multiple spellings due to transliteration issues.
 
Thanks for the pic Matt. Seems like every pic I've ever seen of a roller at work shows them enjoying one of the fruits of their labors. I wonder if they do smoke their own stuff mostly ???
