Playing with some technology here...
I thought I would try and do an audio review of the cigar. Here's the link:
Audio link
It's a WAV file, you should be able to listen to it with your Windows Media Player (for the Apple folks, I haven't a clue....). It is a little over 2 meg, and runs right at 10 mins. It's raw, unedited, with no added cuts or overdubs.....needless to say, I could have been more articulate and focused. As I'm trained to say at work, "There is lots of room for improvement!"
Hopefully, you can click on it and it will just start in your media player. I'm currently borrowing some web space and bandwidth from an unused page my son is working on....if this works out, I'll get some space of my own.
Mostly, it's just a test to see what you think about the idea of using short audio clips to share thoughts and ideas. I tried to run it through a converter to change it to a more standard MP3 file, but my computer is too old and slow and the output file suffered from clipping....a test Windows Media file was over 10Meg...too big!
I think there is a meter on the server where the file is hosted. High demand may deplete my bandwidth allocation...I think it resets every 12 hours....if it doesn't work, wait a day and try again. Hey, we're on the bleeding edge here!
Here's a few technical details, if you want to try it yourself....
I used an MP3 player with voice record capability. The mic isn't sensitive enough (I sound kind of muted) and the controls are difficult to use. A proper microphone hooked to a computer would be a better choice. Enough CPU horsepower to edit the file and even sweeter, an audio processing program to amp up my voice (a little reverb, a little cleanup of the sound....in my recording, during the quite parts, you can hear what sounds like a heartbeat...not sure exactly what it is, I think it's an audio artifact from the player creating the recording, but I'm not sure). Also, you'll need some web space with generous bandwidth allowances. The web site must allow "hot linking"....and of course a cigar to smoke and talk about!
Let me know what you think!
Cheers,
Joe
